Mr. Noodle......

My little guy is currently going through an Elmo fascination!! He gets super excited when the Elmo's World theme begins to play, and runs as fast as he can into the living room so he doesn't miss a second! Elmo follows the exact same routine every day such as talking to Dorothy the fish, singing the same songs, and checking his e-mail. Watch this quick video in case you have never seen Elmo with his friend Mr. Noodle.......

Mr. Noodle obviously lacks some common sense, and depends on Elmo and the other kids to tell him what to do! It's got me thinking, though. What voices do we listen to in our own lives?
Every day, there are loud cries from the world telling us what to do!

Buy this or that!

Be thinner!

Make more money!

Do what's best for YOU!

The list could go on and on! On the other hand, there is a quiet yet more powerful voice saying,

Lay up your treasures in Heaven!

I created you in My image!

Serve others!

Depend on ME!

We can choose between the world's empty yells or our God's all-sufficient whispers.
What Voice are you listening to today?

Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God...."

Very good word. I think I have been guilty of this a lot. Even on my blog, so I have changed things up, trying to get back to where I started.

Oh yes, I have those voices, telling me I'm not good enough, or that I have to "follow the crowd" to be successful. I am working on quieting them down, so I can hear the true Word.

And I love Mr. Noodle! Oh that brings back memories. When my boys were little the only TV they watched was Sesame Street. I still love Elmo :)

First of all, I love Mr. Noodle! My boys watched him all the time, and I hope Baby Girl adores him later too. ;)

Voices, voices. There is one that tells me I deserve to do "this" or "that" and another that says, "Follow me. My yoke is easy and my burden is light." Who do I follow? It depends on the moment, but I'm trying to take all thoughts captive and make them obedient to the One who really loves me.

I was listening to my mean inner voice telling me I don't look good and need to do something about it just a few minutes ago... I need to listen to God's whisper to be more concerned about my inner beauty than my outer beauty (although I still need to eat healthier and exercise more). :)

Oh, I just LOVE Elmo!! Since my kids are older, we haven't seen Elmo since Mr. Noodle was introduced, so thank you for taking me back to that world and updating me :))

Love the illustration...gotta stay focused on that small but powerful voice!

Had this open waiting for me to comment since yesterday...

love the Mr. Noodle metaphor! It's so true. I've been hearing lots of wrong voices lately.

Need to go listen to the true Voice!

Thanks!

MMM...that's brilliant. I used to hear the Elmo's World theme in my head when my babies were small... You are dead-on about listening to all the many voices. WOW. Stopping by from Sugar Tails.
