Though we don't understand....

I have recently been reading through the Gospels. It's amazing to me how many truths can pop out of such familiar passages such as Luke 2:48-51.
Joseph, Mary, and 12 year old Jesus had taken a trip to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover. Jesus amazed the teachers in the temple with his knowledge of Scripture. When it was time to leave, his parents could not find him, and after searching everywhere, they decided that Jesus must be with the rest of their friends and relatives. After a day's journey, they still could not find him until they headed back to the temple. There he was!

"So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.”
And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.  Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart."

She didn't understand her son's words. I'm sure she tried to understand, but simply couldn't grasp the meaning.
This confusion could have sown some doubt in her mind, but instead she took Jesus' words with a heart of faith. She tucked Jesus' statement in her heart knowing that some day she would understand.

Mary's thoughts aren't very different from what we often experience. There are time when we simply don't understand the Lord's working or prodding in our life. There are times when we can't quite comprehend a passage of scripture.
We ought to respond with the same attitude of faith even when we don't understand. When we live with this type of mindset, we may not know all the answers immediately. We will, however, be blessed for our trusting heart. Our God desires to do great things in our lives whether we completely comprehend His plan or not!

Isaiah 55:8,
" 'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord"
